June 14, 2008 (Saturday)Flag Day
Do you have a flag that is torn, tattered or worn out? You can turn it in for proper disposal at one of three locations in Branson: Frontier Flags (The Flag Store) 212 S. Commercial, the parking lot of the Veterans Memorial Museum, 1250 W. State Hwy 76, and other locations to be determined. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Gretna Rd, Hwy 76 and Hwy 165  we will be taking donation for the Avenue of Freedom. Steve Weyher is the BVTF Chairperson for this event. July 16, 2008 (Wednesday) National Day of Atomic Remembrance
The 62nd anniversary of the first atomic explosion and all veterans who were exposed to radiation in the line of military duty will be recognized during the National Atomic Veterans Day of Remembrance Observance July 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the God and Country Inspiration Garden, 1116 W. Highway 76 in Branson. U.S. Navy Retired Lieutenant David Combs will present a special message during the observance. President George W. Bush declared July 16th as a National day for all military groups and veterans associated with the nuclear programs. Dawn Easton is the BVTF chairperson for this event. July 26, 2008 (Saturday) Korean War Armistice Day
The Harry S. Truman Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association will host a memorial ceremony marking the end of "The Forgotten War," remembering veterans who returned and those who did not. The ceremony will be held at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, East Hwy 76, at 10:00a.m. For more information call 417-546-3150. Sean Murray is the BVTF chairperson for this event. September 2, 2008 (Tuesday) The End of WWII
To commemorate the Formal Surrender of Japan on 9/2/1945 which brought an end to WWII, the single most defining event of the 20th Century. On that date, the Japanese formally surrendered aboard the Battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Harbor. Steve Weyher is the BVTF chairperson for this event. For more information contact 417-337-8387.


September 11, 2008 (Thursday) 9/11 "Branson Remembers"
A beautiful and moving ceremony will be held in observance of the tragedy which changed the world. 8:00 A.M. in the back parking lot behind the Grand Palace under the American High-rise Monument. Steve Weyher is the BVTF chairperson for this event. For more information contact 417-337-8387.


September 20, 2008 (Saturday)POW-MIA Day. "Silent March"
A "Silent March" will be held starting at 9:00 A.M. from the Whelchel Funeral Chapel parking lot, 310 S. Commercial, Branson. It will proceed down Commercial to Main St. taking Main St. down to the Town Square at the Branson Landing where a short commemorative service  will be held for those who have not returned from WWII, Korea, Vietnam or Desert Storm. Branson Motorcycle Toy Run
The 18th Annual Branson Motorcycle Toy Run sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5168 of Forsyth, MO will meet at Legends in Concert Hwy 76 & 165, Branson, MO at 12:00 p.m. Depart at 1:00 p.m. The parade of motorcycles will be led by Santa going to the VFW Post 5168 at Forsyth, MO. Please NO stuffed animals. Toys and coats for all ages are needed. Dinner and music will be provided compliments of the VFW. For more information contact 417-334-0775.
